Dame Lillard leaving the Blazer’s may mean he’s dribbling elsewhere, but Portland and adidas will always be home.
Dame left Portland as classy as they come by writing a heart-felt goodbye letter to the city. So on his first return to Portland as a Buck, we partnered with adidas to welcome him back in a way that shared the love.
As one of the longest standing adidas partnerships, we did something that adidas North American headquarters had never done before - dedicated a building to an athlete.
This heartfelt tribute was a collective moment. One strengthened by a crowd of supporters wearing custom ‘Always Home’ hoodies and waving posters that brought the icon’s impact to life. With the village decked out in honor of Dame, including massive building wraps and banners throughout, the community came together to pay homage to a legend. A national championship-style banner was raised, and Dame laid down his permanent signature at center court of adidas gymnasium.
With the main goal being to garner media attention for Dame’s return home, our emotion-packed ceremony successfully caught the eyes of sport fans nationwide across media channels like ESPN and FanNation.
